John Schneider makes another mid season deal for a vet on an expiring contract, and this time it’s for App-Pro Guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. Nelson was the 6th overall pick in the 2018 draft and has been a foundation on the line since day 1.
The price was a 3rd round pick in 2027 and a 5th round pick in 2028. If it’s a rental for just season, it would be worth it, but I’m sure JS will figure out a way to sign him long term if both parties are interested. The news broke early on during the Pat McAfee Show.
This move should mean that Grey Zabel will move to the RG spot, replacing the bumbling Anthony Bradford that will be great, as a backup. Nelson is a 3 time All-Pro at his position and has been to the Pro Bowl all 8 seasons. Many are comparing the move to picking up another All-Pro lineman Duane Brown. Let’s hope it works out that well, I’m confident it will. He’s a nasty run blocker that loves pancaking people. Brings that attitude. Should immediately improve the run game, and a shot for the champs to repeat.
